This book speaks to the book lovers heart. Robin and Peter build their relationship on a set of classics. Then everything changes. Years later, the classics reappear. I really enjoyed this one.

A heartbreaking account of the widow of Theo Van Gogh and her struggle to honor him and bring his brother's art into the world's eye. This is offset by a modern day time line that lightens the mood. I enjoyed it.
A lovely book filled with twists and turns. It's hard to see who are friends and who are not. But Reina must figure it out.
This book was a sweeping tale of Paris and her history. It was made human by the characters that were part of the story. Worth the read!
Open this book and be transported back in time to a place that was wild and different and full of life. Sink into a great, real love story. Get a glimpse into what it was like to be a part of history in the making. Enjoyable from start to end.
A lovely book that follows a young woman as she tries to find her way past bigotry, ignorance and meanness. Honey Lovett is her mother's daughter and smarter than most. She also has a sharp eye, keen judgements and a good heart. The book is true to its Kentucky backwoods roots. Give it a read!
Fabulous book. This book looks at the Titanic disaster from a new angle. A young Irish girl in the Titanic and the Captain of the Carpathia (the ship who resqued the survivors) take turns narrating the sequence of events. It was riveting. Loved it!
What a wonderful, nostalgic look at the airline industry from the perspective of the stewardess (flight attendant). What a glorious job to hold! Every girl wanted to be her and few were. This is a peak behind the curtain and so enlightening.
This was a tough one. While it was a subject i normally like, i found it disappointed and hard to follow. It was confusing and i never really connected with the characters. I kept wondering why i was still reading it.
Wow! This story was fabulous. Lots of twists and turns. You never quite know what to expect. Very engaging!
This book was full of interesting manouvering for position on the European stage. Advantageous marriages, alliances and treaties were what keeper your family strong and in power. Very interesting book.
Classic psychological thriller! Plenty of questionable characters. Strong main characters and clear story line. Very interesting!
This book was full of unforseen twists and turns. One main character a poor girl from the rough door of London and the other an heiress living a quest life in the country. Their lives intersect and everything is not as it seems.
How do you rule a country in a time when women weren't considered capable? How do you find love when women were married to further a families ambition? How do you stand up to the King of England when he's your brother and Henry VIII? Margaret Tudor must do all this and more. Loved the book!
This was a good story that explored what happens to those left behind when men go off to war and never return or return changed. This book uses the exploration of an old house where 2 sisters lived their entire life to unveil the things that happened that kept them there and single. While sorting out the house after her great aunt Florrie dies Kate finds out as much about herself as she does about her aunt.
I loved that while this book was essentially a love story, it was a real love story. Just because you've find a real and enduring love doesn't mean that everything will be easy or will work out. It had twists and turns and stumbling blocks throughout. There was no predicting the outcome right up to the last page!
I thought this book was enjoyable. I liked that the story unfolded with 3 different narrators, thus shifting the perspective. I thought the story was current and relatable. It was thought provoking. One night, one situation can change many lives
This was a sweet read. Would make for a good beach read since it isn't too deep. It was a good story and gave an interesting glimpse into Indian life.
This was a twisted roller coaster ride. Just when you think you've got the story figured out the author adds another twist to the story.
LA fascinating true story set in 1954 of a woman who decides to travel to California from Maine on horseback. She's got almost no money, no map other than the ones from the service stations and only a little dig for company. She does have grit though and she will need every ounce of it to get to California and see the ocean.
This book is all about Coco Channel's experience in Paris during WWII. It shows what a trecherous place it was and how she managed to navigate the trials and pitfalls. I felt it showed a different side of surviving the war. Very well done!
I really enjoyed this book. Being set in 1950's it embraces the simpler times but often the simpler times became very complicated. Donal, at 11, has to fend for himself for the summer as he criss crosses the west on a Greyhound bus. I thought it felt similar to Lincoln Highway.
This book was awesome. I loved that it took place in India and in the US. It felt very real and relatable. Starting out with an extremely poor family in India and the choices they are forced to make because of their poverty. It continues with a wealthy family in India and their choice to send their eldest soon to America for schooling. Both families are forever changed by their choices and forever linked. Very good read!
A lovely coming of age book set during the Vietnam War era. The main character has been served some tough knocks at a tender age. She'd determined and driven and will see her dreams come true no matter the cost. She works hard to make something of herself. Not all her life is smooth sailing and she got more tough knocks coming her way. At times sad and at times triumphant this was a sweet love story.
A beautifully written book set in both current day and art the end of WWll. The descriptions of Italy at the end of the war are so perfect is easy to imagine you're on the coast enjoying the sun! The intertwining of the 2 time periods is masterfully done. It was a wonderful read.
Beautifully written this book is in turns heartbreaking and uplifting. Set in a time when life was tough and people had to be just as tough to survive. The main character, Gracie, has been a midwife for generations of women. She's accused of the unthinkable by a powerful man. As the story unfolds the secrets of many stay too come to light. How those secrets are delt with makes all the difference.
This was a beautiful, joyous read! It follows a young girl, Santina, from Italy to England and back. Her life unfolds like a beautiful flower. Not everything is perfect for her along the way but she manages and moves forward. This was honest, real and relatable. I loved it.
This is a classic who done it. Interesting charactersand a good story line. I enjoyed it.
I found this book just ok. It was disjointed and hard to follow at times. The alluding to a labia relationship was distracting and felt like it was added as an afterthought.
What a fantastic book! The author dealt with a difficult situation with tenderness and sensitivity. She showed all the human emotions and how we interact with others and was masterful about it. All of her characters were interesting and relatable. The story was fresh and unique. I loved it! Now, I'm off to find more by this author!
I enjoyed this book very much. It looked into the life of a relatively unknown scientist who worked tirelessly to uncover the mysteries of DNA. Rosalind Franklin's work enriched our knowledge of science and had been largely overlooked because 3 men took credit for it.
This was a very enjoyable read. The author handled the transition from modern time to 150 years ago well. Not your typical time travel novel.
This book was flat and hard to follow. It never seemed to pick up any steam, just plodded along.
This book was enjoyable. We met the main characters as they are making the 'jump' from vaudeville to Hollywood. They get drawn in to everything that tinseltown was in the 1920s. Delightful! Add in to that the appearance of Gert Turner from the Tumbling Turner Sisters, an fun added bonus!
The book, written in 1925, satisfies in a way modern written doesn't. It's well written without being overdone. The characters were real and relatable. Loved it!
Fiona Davis has done it again. This book is intriguing and captivating. It's full of twists and turns right up until the very end. So well developed it was a joy to read! Loved it!
A wonderful book that follows the life of a young girl in Korea as she navigates through the life she's been born into. Her world changes drastically as the Japanese core to Korea and people are fighting to survive. Beautifully written i enjoyed this book!
Based on real life events this book explores what could have happened if a wife married a genius who ultimately became so much more than that. It looks at love, responsibility, loyalty and morals and how they can clash in a marriage. Really well written and stunning. It will get you thinking.
Loved this book. Fresh subject handled in an intriguing manner. I hated to see it end!
This book was very overworked. It felt tortured. I wanted to like it but struggle with the writing.
